World Clean-Up Day
Sep. 21, 2024 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Become a Clean Up Super Hero!

Join us on September 21st for the annual World Clean Up day together with the Rotary Family. Members and friends of Rotary Club of Curacao, Rotary Club of Willemstad, Rotaract, Interact ASHV, Interact KAP and Interact RC will join forces to clean up Boca Ascension.

Boca Ascension is a hot spot for sea turtle nesting, and unfortunately, a significant amount of plastic and other debris wash ashore, threatening the health and safety of these incredible creatures. By volunteering, you will make a direct impact on protecting the sea turtles and keeping our beaches clean. Every piece of plastic removed helps ensure a safer environment for these vulnerable animals.

Event Details:

  • Date & Time: September 21st, 2024 from 7am to +/- 11:30am
  • Location: Boca Ascension
  • What to Bring: Sun protection and a reusable water bottle.
  • What to Wear: Shoes (No flip-flops) and clothes that can get wet and dirty, as we’ll be working along the shoreline.

We invite you to join this important effort and be part of the solution!

Curaçao Clean Up will facilitate us with all the necessary materials. And to make this event even better…. Curaçao Clean Up will have a prize for the most convincing team of Clean Up Superheroes!

Put on your Superhero outfit and attitude and join us! Please feel free to carpool with other members :)

The Rotary-Family will provide drinks and a snack.

Profiling | Analysis of micro-expressions, body language, and vocal cues

Nov. 07, 2024 12:00 p.m.

Profiling by analysis is combining the interpretation of facial expressions, body language and voice use during the process of discovering the presence (or absence) of correlations in behavior and expression both in natural circumstances and under pressure.
By analyzing (in-)congruences between what is expressed and how its expressed in each situation (natural/pressure) it becomes possible to improve the interpretation (or meaning) of the expression as well as to derive the persons/subject’s behavior.
The insights I help gain can be used in multiple ways. Increased awareness of what kinds of expressions one has and how they are (or are not) congruent with what is said and exercising to "express" differently could improve the outcome of a negotiation or trade deal. Another example where profiling is useful is when used to assess candidates applying for a high-profile position in your organization. It could help get insights into what happens with ethics, morale, and corporate discipline in extreme emotional/situational pressure situations. Choosing your candidate based on the expected future behavior (by deducing the variables) increases the chance that your future C-level executive navigates clearly through clouded situations.

Biography

Kirsten Heukels is a versatile professional with a background in Law from Utrecht University and was one of the first mediators in the Netherlands. Her focus on legal certainty and her ability to make people feel truly heard and seen led to years of success, achieving the highest closure rate and satisfaction among court-appointed mediators. This approach is at the core of her company, 1for2 Social Innovation, where the slogan "Attention is our Craft" defines their services.

With over 24 years of experience as the founder and consultant at 1for2 Social Innovation, Kirsten provides solutions that help individuals and teams move forward. She has guided hundreds of people and teams in their personal and professional development through training and coaching, aiming for optimal collaboration and team performance. Her work as an External Confidential Advisor for organizations like KNVB, Odin, and Embraer highlights her dedication to supporting employees and management, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Kirsten’s unique skills in profiling and behavioral analysis make her a valuable advisor in situations requiring sharp insight and quick decisions. She specializes in analyzing micro-expressions, body language, and vocal cues to interpret and predict people’s underlying intentions. This expertise has been applied in various scenarios, from assisting with high-end executive recruitment in the USA to advising Premier League football clubs on strategies for penalty shootouts, all aimed at optimizing team performance.

Her social commitment is evident in her role as the national president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Netherlands in 2010, where she represented 2,500 members internationally, including a speech at the United Nations in New York. Kirsten remains engaged as a Senator at JCI, continuing her passion for social entrepreneurship and innovation.

In addition to her role at 1for2 Social Innovation, Kirsten is also trained as a supervisor and commissioner, and she is frequently sought out by entrepreneurs and executives for strategic advice that reflects her broad worldview and people-centered approach.

Kirsten is a valuable addition to the advisory board of Liion Power B.V., where she and her fellow directors contribute to the strategic growth and internationalization of this tech startup.
