This past Sunday, the "A Smile for Curaçao" project, financially supported by the Rotary Club of Curaçao, transformed the Sint Antonius School on Seru Fortunaweg into a lively hub of health and happiness.

This initiative offered essential dental consultations and education to nearly 700 children from Curaçao’s communities. Buses from the Koninklijke Marine (Royal Dutch Navy) ran throughout the day, transporting families from neighborhoods like Buena Vista, Seru Fortuna, and other nearby areas to ensure everyone could participate in this impactful event.

In addition to dental check-ups, each parent attended an information session on the importance of dental hygiene and proper oral care. This session also underscored the benefits of drinking water as an alternative to sugary beverages, promoting habits that can prevent tooth decay and contribute to overall health. Parents left with practical advice on preventive care, enabling them to support their children’s long-term dental well-being.

The schoolyard was transformed into a festive area with games and face-painting stations, making the day feel like a celebration of health. Every child received a special care package containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, coloring crayons, and a color-in flyer to encourage continued dental care at home.

Despite being held on a Sunday, a dedicated group of volunteers generously devoted their day to bring this event to life. It was heartening to see so many people working with enthusiasm to make sure everything ran smoothly. The well-organized setup and the passion of these volunteers made for a day filled with smiles, learning, and significant community impact.

As supporters of this project, we are proud and grateful to contribute to such a beautiful initiative that brings tangible benefits to Curaçao’s children and their families. The Rotary Club of Curaçao remains committed to making a difference in the lives of our community members through efforts like "A Smile for Curaçao," which promises brighter and healthier futures for all involved.
