This achievement followed eight weeks of intensive preparation and research.
The project was a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Curaçao and the Rotary Club Willemstad. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lara Quentrall-Thomas, the MUN project leader in Trinidad & Tobago, for her guidance, and to former Curaçao Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath for facilitating a valuable presentation by a colleague, an Argentine career diplomat at the World Bank. And also Elton Villarreal; his expert debate training was instrumental in preparing the students for this prestigious event.
A special acknowledgment goes to local professionals who generously shared their knowledge and experiences:
- Kevin Eustatia-Palm, MUN alumnus,
- Chris Rigaud, from Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten,
- Pedzi Girigorie, from the Meteorological Office of Curaçao.
Their mentorship played a key role in equipping the students for success.
We are also grateful to UNESCO Curaçao for their support, and to His Excellency Cor Hersbach, Ambassador of the Dutch Kingdom to Trinidad and Tobago, for hosting the students during their visit to the United Nations offices.
In an exciting continuation of their journey, Julie and Deandron will speak at the Curaçao Climate Change Platform next week, bringing their insights and experiences to the local stage.
Congratulations to these bright young leaders, who have not only represented Curaçao with distinction but have also showcased the value of collaboration and dedication.
