From the moment the band arrived, their excitement was contagious — they even began playing before 7 p.m.! The audience included several organizations that work with people with (mental) disabilities, such as Totolika, SGR Groep, Streanan di Oro and ProBista. Everyone had a fantastic time joining in on the music, clapping, singing, and celebrating together.
A special highlight of the evening was Skol Mobil di Musika, a mobile music school that brings music education to different neighborhoods. They performed three fantastic numbers, inspiring the audience and showing the power of music to connect communities.
Our wonderful hosts, Lyan Verburg and Randal Corsen, guided the evening with warmth and enthusiasm. Lyan gave each band member the opportunity to share a few words between songs, adding a personal touch that made the night even more special. The band members loved the energy from the audience — especially the participation of the little children dancing and singing along.
The talented Rohani de Pont added her beautiful voice to the evening, making the performance even more magical.
The Rotary Club of Curaçao will earmark the proceeds from the concert for future musical initiatives for people with special needs. To promote this, the Jostiband has decided to leave their instruments behind on the islands, allowing the music to continue here — long after they’ve gone home.
Upcoming Workshops & Free Concert
This week, the Jostiband will also be offering free workshops to share their unique “color music” method. These sessions are designed to inspire people with disabilities and their families, while also providing local music teachers with valuable tools to make music more accessible for everyone.
