The students of Group 1/2 at Kolegio San Dominico in Montagne were pleasantly surprised to receive a beautiful new playground set on their school grounds — the very first donation made possible through Rotary’s Cash for Care project.
Since July 1st, when Curaçao officially transitioned to the Caribbean guilder (XCG), the former Netherlands Antillean guilder (ANG) is no longer legal tender. To make good use of any leftover ANG still in circulation, Rotary Club Willemstad and Rotary Club Curaçao launched a joint initiative: at 10 collection stations across the island, residents can donate their old guilders for a good cause.
Rotary teams regularly collect and exchange the donated ANG at the Central Bank of Curaçao, converting it to XCG. All proceeds go toward supporting several community projects that align with Rotary’s focus areas.
For this first donation, Dijtham Home & Garden also contributed by providing transportation and installation of the playground equipment.
Rotary Club Willemstad and Rotary Club Curaçao encourage everyone to check their homes, cars, and drawers for any remaining Antillean guilders — and drop them off at one of the Cash for Care donation stations.
